Dan Aymar-Blair

Dutchess County Comptroller

How long have you been a Democrat?

I’ve been a Democrat for around 25 years now.

What made you decide to run for office?

I am running for re-election because I promised the voters more transparency, more accountability, and more oversight in Dutchess County—all of which I am getting underway, and will need more than a year to accomplish.

What will be your priorities if you get elected?

I will continue to prioritize more audits reports, more types of reporting, more contract oversight, and ensuring everything is more transparent and accessible.

What is something that you have done or achieved in Beacon or elsewhere that positively contributed to your community?

While I fought for and won good cause eviction and building electrification in Beacon, I am most proud of getting the stop sign at the corner of Barb’s Butchery.

What can you bring to the role?

I have more than 20 years government finance experience, and more than five years as an elected official. I also have years of experience working in the non-profit sector. I am now also getting acclimated with the inner workings of Dutchess County!

Tell us something about you.

I am a sixth generation New Yorker. My family came to New York in the Quebec Diaspora before the Civil War.
